Dear members of the Metropolis community,

It is with pleasure that we are writing today to inform you that registration is now open for the 2016 International Metropolis Conference which will take place in Nagoya, Japan from October 24-26. This conference marks not only the 20^th year of conferences of the International Metropolis Project but the first to take place in Asia. This conference is a tremendous opportunity to meet with your academic and policy colleagues from throughout the world to discuss in a neutral setting the migration issues that matter to you.

The event will feature a mix of plenary sessions, workshops, study tours, and social activities.  

We are very pleased to announce that the conference keynote speaker will be Ambassador William Lacy Swing, Director General of the International Organization for Migration.

The heart of all Metropolis Conferences is the program of approximately 75 workshops which are organized by you, the members of our community. We have once again issued a call for workshop proposals which can be found on the conference website (http://metropolis2016-nagoya.jimdo.com). The process of submitting a proposal is straightforward, and we strongly encourage members of the Metropolis and the Metropolis Asia communities to take advantage of this opportunity to present and discuss your research or policy work and to collaborate with your colleagues on shared concerns. We can assure you that there will be a great deal of interest from the broad Metropolis network in your work. If you require assistance with the submission process, please feel free to contact us; we will be happy to help you.
